Best dive in Binghamton, hands-down. The crowd is eclectic and the weekends are electric! (As are the Christmas lights strung across the bar)
I cannot tell you how many great stories start with the words “So we decided to hit up the Belmar”…

the binghamton mothership, and the choice stop for many cool folk. great beer, tasty food, and a good crowd and atmosphere make this place a winner. also live music and site of brawlin’ at the belmar bmx jumping. awesome.

If Binghamton has a hipster bar, then this is it.
The reason to go to the Belmar is the people. Early in the day you start with the dedicated drinkers, and it changes into an alternative / hipster / college crowd in the evening.
The bartenders are consistently friendly and easy on the eyes.

Great dive bar! Belmar always has a great crowd and their bartenders are excellent. They have booths in the back for a more private setting and the front tables easily expand as your group of friends grows through out the evening. The prices are great and allow even the biggest cheapskate to buy a round. And yes they have Guinness on tap and the bartenders know how to pour it perfectly.

It’s been quite awhile since I’ve landed at this particular dive, but the last visit was certainly one of the best! Classic dive right in the heart of Binghamton’s first ward…oldest part of the city with lots of other star attractions like Fort Apache, Sharkey’s, and that lil spot up the road that cells tombstones.

Belmar is located on the West-side of Binghamton. The first ward is west of the Chenango river and north of the Railroad tracks, the West-side is considered everything west of the Chenango river and the first ward being part of the West-side. Just to be technical! Great bar.

Frequent live music and decent beer on tap make this a good bar. The ambiance is awesome. The interior looks like it was lifted from another time. Unfortunately, the bathrooms look like they were lifted from ground zero. The bartenders are friendly and the late night crowd is a lot of fun. My only wish is that they would open their back room more often. The place can get packed at night and the extra space would be welcome.
